Elderly Coober Pedy Man Dies Following Mobility Scooter Crash
An 84-year-old Coober Pedy man has died following a road crash involving a mobility scooter and a vehicle earlier this week.
Emergency services were called to Post Office Hill Road about 4.15pm on Thursday, 25 June, after reports that a Toyota station wagon had collided with a mobility scooter.
The local man, who was riding the mobility scooter, sustained serious injuries and was transported to hospital for treatment. Sadly, South Australia Police have confirmed he passed away on Saturday, 27 June.
Major Crash Investigation Section detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
Road closures were put in place while emergency services responded to the scene, but have since been lifted.
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash, or who may have CCTV or dashcam footage from the area around the time of the incident, to come forward. Information can be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers by quoting reference **166745**.
The man's death brings the South Australian road toll to **56 lives lost** this year.
