Two teenagers have been arrested and charged following investigations into two alleged break-ins at Coober Pedy last week.
Police allege two buildings on Paxton Street and Hutchison Street were broken into between 10pm and 10.40pm on Thursday, 1 October.
A witness reportedly spotted the alleged offenders inside the perimeter of a yard on Hutchison Street and immediately alerted police.
Patrols attended the scene, but the suspects had already left. Police said nothing was taken from the property.
Following further investigations and a review of CCTV footage, officers arrested a 13-year-old boy from Ceduna and a 14-year-old boy from Coober Pedy the following day.
Both teenagers were charged with two counts of non-residential serious criminal trespass.
They were granted bail and are scheduled to appear in the Coober Pedy Youth Court on 2 December.
Police thanked members of the local community for reporting the break-ins promptly, saying the information assisted officers in identifying and apprehending the suspects.
Coober Pedy Police said they would continue working closely with the community to help ensure the town remained a safe place to live, work and visit, and that offenders were held to account.
The charges remain allegations and have not yet been tested in court.
