Arrest and licence loss follow separate Coober Pedy incidents
A man has been charged following an alleged assault on a resident who discovered an intruder in his shed, while a Victorian woman has lost her licence following a separate incident at a Coober Pedy service station.

Police allege the shed incident occurred about 11.40pm on Friday, 30 October, when a Coober Pedy resident noticed suspicious activity on his property.

Upon entering the shed, the resident allegedly found a man inside. Police say the man pushed the resident, causing him to fall backwards and suffer a laceration to his forehead, before fleeing.

Following investigations, officers attended a Coober Pedy home on Saturday, 31 October, where they arrested a 35-year-old local man. Police also seized a BB gun at the home.

The man was charged with serious criminal trespass, assault and possessing a firearm without a licence. He was refused bail and was scheduled to appear in the Coober Pedy Magistrates Court on Monday, 2 November.

In a separate incident, police were called to a service station on Oliver Street about 6.30pm on Sunday, 1 November, after reports that a Toyota station wagon had collided with bollards in the car park.

Witnesses prevented the driver from leaving before officers arrived.

Police say the driver, a 57-year-old Victorian woman, returned a positive roadside breath test. She was then taken to Coober Pedy Police Station, where she allegedly refused to provide a sample for a secondary breath analysis test.

The woman was reported for refusing to comply with a breath analysis test and issued an immediate loss of licence notice for 12 months.

Her vehicle was impounded for 28 days, and she will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
